If you’re traveling to Miami while on a budget and don’t know where to go, I can help! A trip to Miami can get expensive pretty quickly. From car rental, paying for parking, and tolls, to hotel stays, It all adds up- and these are just the basics with no activities planned. If you’re visiting the magic city and don’t want to spend a lot of money, there are plenty of free things to do in Miami. Here are some things to add to your itinerary.

Visit the Beach: Miami is known for its beaches so of course it’s a must to visit South Beach. If tanning is high on your to-do list keep in mind South Beach isn’t the only beach in Miami. Yes, the art deco buildings are a must to see but also make sure to stop at other beaches. Checkout Crandon Park, South Pointe, Matheson Hammock Park, Historic Virginia Key Beach, Crandon Park, and Bill Baggs Cape State Park.

Join a Free Park Eco-History Tour at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park: In 1945 this was “Miami’s Colored-Only Beach”. The beach is now a National Historic Landmark where tours happen every Friday – Sunday at 10 am and 2 pm.

Check out all of the art and murals in Wynwood: Wynwood is a great neighborhood to spend some time walking around and looking at art murals. While you’re there you can grab a bite to eat from the dozens of food spots.

Watch the Sunset at South Beach or Hobie Beach: Want to escape the crowds at the beach during sunset? These are my top two spots when I want to have a picnic and catch the sunset.

Walk around Brickell/ Brickell Key: Here you’ll see both- The Miami River and beautiful views of Brickell – where you can find modern and luxurious high-rise buildings.

Take a ride on the Metromover: Take a free ride around Downtown Miami and enjoy the view of the city’s high-rise skylines. The metro mover does not travel to Miami Beach or Wynwood.

Window Shop in The Design District: From the high-end retail stores to creative sculptures it’s a beautiful outdoor area. You can enjoy the art in every corner and take advantage of every photo op available.

Enjoy the Latin culture in Little Havana: Walk down Little Havana and enjoy the live music and food! If you love coffee -try a colada (a strong shot of coffee)

Watch a movie at Soundscape Park: Taking place every Wednesday (Oct-May) at 8 p.m.
