After exploring all of the beauty and history Medellin has to offer what more of a great way to end your trip with getting a massage in Medellin? Or if you’ve done several sightseeing tours maybe a day of relaxation in between your trip comes in handy.
After all of the sightseeing tours I did on my trip, and going up hills and countless amount of stairs, I knew I would be getting back home exhausted. I knew I wouldn’t allow myself to leave the country without getting a massage in Medellin. With some time to spare, I took it upon myself to relax and book a massage before traveling back home to my everyday routine.
Experience
I was recommended “La Fontan Spa” by a family member and I couldn’t have asked for a better spa service. The booking process went relatively smoothly, I called the spa early in the morning and asked if they had any availability for the day of. It was a Tuesday, and luckily they had availability for noon. The woman who I spoke to on the phone was generous and explained each massage package thoroughly that was available with prices. Their packages varied from a regular 90-minute massage to chocolate therapy. I decided to book the 90-minute massage. The woman on the phone took down my information and once we were done talking on the phone she sent a confirmation to my phone with the address and instructions to the spa.
After a 15-minute Uber drive to the spa, I arrived at the location. I was checked in by security who led me to the spa on the fourth floor. Once the elevator doors opened I heard the relaxing music and was welcomed by the owner of the spa. She offered a welcome cocktail to enjoy while being out on their patio. The patio offers a beautiful view overlooking the city and is decorated with antique furniture. A few minutes passed and the massage therapist introduced herself and gave me some papers for me to fill out.
Once I was done filling out the papers she walked me inside to the dressing room area where I would change into a robe and put all of my belongings into a locker. I chose the 90-minute massage which began with a massage on my face and then onto my body.
Now- I have had several massages in my life but I never had a masseuse massage my stomach. The feeling was different. It felt as if I was getting a lymphatic massage so there was some minor pain, good thing this area didn’t last long. I have no complaints about the masseuse – she was thorough and took her time on each limb. When she got to my back I could feel the tension that I had built up crack by crack. She did assure me I would feel relieved and relaxed. At that moment I did not believe her because of the pain I felt as my back cracked.
Fast forward to 15 minutes later, she was telling the truth. I felt rejuvenated and could take on the next few days as I went back home to my daily routine. Once the massage therapist was done, I changed back into my clothes. I received a delicious natural green juice and sat out on their patio overlooking the city. The overall experience from La Fontan Spa was a 10 out of 10. From the beginning to the end, the staff treated me well and always made sure I felt comfortable.

Colombia is relatively affordable if you’re visiting from the United States or other countries. The total price I paid for this 90-minute massage was about 180.000 COP which converts to about $40. Not including the tip.
If you’ve ever had a massage in Medellin, I would love to hear about your experience!
