If you’re visiting Miami and want to explore more of what the city has to offer after sunbathing at the beach or dancing the night away, visit a museum! Miami has a wide range of museums that vary from art, science, and history. To enter the majority of the museums there is a fee, but below I share free museum days in Miami.
Institute of Contemporary Art: ICA is a contemporary art museum located in the Design District. Admission is free year-round. An online reservation is recommended for guaranteed entry.
Perez Art Museum: PAMM is another contemporary art museum that is located in Museum Park in Downtown Miami. The museum is free on the Second Saturday of the month.
HistoryMiami Museum: This history museum showcases the importance of how the past is shaping Miami’s future. HistoryMiami is also the largest history museum in the state! Wolfsonian: The Wolfsonian-FIU is a museum, library, and research center that focuses on art and design with more than 200,000 artifacts. It’s located in the heart of the Art Deco District of Miami Beach. The museum is free Friday Nights from 6-9 p.m.
Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami: Enjoy free jazz concerts on the last Friday of every month at 7 pm
Bass Museum of Art: The BASS is one of Miami’s most popular museums, it’s a contemporary art museum located in Miami Beach. Admission is free on the last Sunday of each month from 2-4 pm, and on the third Thursday of the month from 6-9 p.m
Miami Children’s Museum: Visiting Miami with kids? Check out the children’s museum that offers interactive activities and crafts. The museum is free the third Friday of the month from 3-9 p.m. and is located between Downtown Miami and Miami Beach.
The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science: This museum offers a free planetarium show for kids from 7:15 pm – 8:45 pm on the first Friday of every month. The rooftop observatory is open for stargazing from 8:30 – 10:00 pm also on the first Friday of the month.
